Welcome to the Computational Mechanics and Materials Laboratory (CMML) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth!

The broad aim of our research is to discover the process-microstructure-property-performance relationship of advanced materials. The knowledge will be used to assess, design, optimize, and manufacture lightweight, strong, tough, and multifunctional materials for mechanical, biomedical, and aerospace applications.

We use theoretical and computational methods combined with experimental collaborations. In particular, our recent interests are in problems related to additive manufacturing of materials, hierarchical materials, multifunctional composites, and image-based (CT, MRI) multiscale modeling of biological materials.
