Graduate Students

Rojin Ghandriz

I received my B.S. from the Shahid Beheshti University and M.S. with honors from the Sharif University, Iran both in Civil Engineering. I am currently a Ph.D. student in Engineering and Applied Science under supervision of Prof. Li. My research is on computational modeling of fracture behaviors of 3D printed polymers and process/topology optimization for maximizing their fracture resistance. Outside of research, I enjoy playing tennis and cooking.

Osama Aljarrah

I earned my B.S. in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, and an MBA with honors from Yarmouk University, Jordan. I am currently a Ph.D. student in Engineering and Applied Science with a concentration in Industrial and Systems Engineering, co-advised by Prof. Li. My primary research interest is in the area of operations research, mathematical modeling, optimization, and machine learning. In Prof. Li’s group, my research focuses on building efficient and effective data-driven techniques for prediction and optimization of additive manufacturing processes. My favorite hobbies are playing with LEGOs and drawing.

Jie Hou

I am currently a M.S. student in Mechanical Engineering at UMass Dartmouth. I obtained my B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In Dr. Li’s research group, my research focuses on machine learning techniques to enable accurate and efficient predictions of finite-element analysis results. Outside of research, I love to meet new friends and travel.

Undergraduate Students

Phelan Mascitelli

I am progressing towards my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at UMass Dartmouth. As a part of Dr. Li’s research group, I have been using 3D FEM simulations to perform electromechanical analysis of carbon nanotubes embedded in a representative volume element of epoxy matrix for strain and damage sensing applications. Outside of research, I like creative writing, hiking, and digital art.
